How to Clean Your Filter

Hot Tub Placement

Tuesday, August 14th, 2018

A hot tub can go in just about any space you desire: by a swimming pool, on the deck, in your yard, even indoors! Although your hot tub can go wherever you want it to go keep in mind the size of your hot tub and make sure you have extra room where it is needed, not only for your stairs and cover but also for maintenance incase it is needed.

The most ideal surface to place a hot tub is a nice leveled out concrete surface that is about 4-6″ thick. If your space happens to have a slope, it is best to make sure that the slope is towards the filter of the hot tub to make sure the water level is high enough to run through the filter.

For more questions on how to best prepare for your hot tub delivery call Combined Pool and Spa!

Easy Water Care With Your Hot Tub

Tuesday, August 14th, 2018

All hot tubs require some attention and involvement when it comes to water chemistry and having access to clean, healthy water.

Who doesn’t want to have sparkling, clear water whenever you’re ready for a soak?

There are three important things when it comes to your hot tub water: filtration, circulation and balancing. There is also a simple ‘add on’ to your hot tub that can help with water chemistry and balance and that is an Ozone System.

The Ozone System operates continuously to mix highly concentrated ozone with the water as it travels through a contact chamber on its way back to the hot tub water. The organic contaminants are instantly oxidized, helping to keep the water clean and fresh.

There are 3 different types of ozone generators used in hot tubs:

1. Ultraviolet (U.V.)

Minimal Maintenance – This lamp must be replaced by a technician and will require a service call. This generator will need to be replaced every 2 – 3 years

2. Chip-type Corona Discharge

Along with the U.V generator, the Chip-type will also need to be replaced or cleaned every 2 – 3 years as the ozone output diminished. The ozone output from the Chip- type unit is typically around 220- 225 parts per million (ppm)

3. Cell- type Corona Discharge

Cell – type has 2 major advantages over the other generators. This generator requires little maintenance and will end up saving the hot tub owner money in the long run. The Cell-type output is 650- 750 ppm, resulting in greater effectiveness – This means fresh, sparkling clear water with less effort and sanitizer.

Now that you know how Ozone can help sanitize your water for a minimal investment – choose which system you want added to your hot tub and start soaking in sparkling water today!

Changing a Filter

Tuesday, August 14th, 2018

With the proper rinse and rotating you will only need to change your filter monthly.

Either spray with your outside hose or let soak!

A filter will last longer if you clean it monthly, however, the older a filter is and the longer you let it sit means the more dirty it is – which will make your water unclear. If your water becomes unclear and dirty, you should start with changing your filter and putting in the correct amount of chemicals before calling for a service check.

Many people spend money and on service checks before cleaning their filter and checking their chemicals. It is very important to stay up to date on your hot tub and pool maintenance to aviod other issues that may occur later on.
